Child Vision - summer programme

Child Vision run a summer programme each year. Their 2026 programme is full. Please contact summerprogramme@childvision.ie regarding 2027 applications.

  • When? July & August – 32 places available
  • Where? ChildVision, Drumcondra, Dublin 9 (accommodation and food provided)
  • Who? Teenagers with a visual impairment from 1st to 6th year secondary school

There will be a variety of activities available with a mix of recreational, educational and social activities. These include, among others, equine activities, swimming, cultural and social trips, music, baking, yoga and mindfulness.

Your young person will also have the opportunity to build independence skills around food preparation, shopping experiences and money management. Additionally, support will be offered to help your young person learn strategies for managing their own vision needs.

All activities are tailored to suit level of ability and individual goals.

The programme runs over two weeks from Sunday evening to Friday. Accommodation is in a fully staffed house in the community near the Child Vision centre in Drumcondra. The houses will be led by qualified and CORU registered social care staff, most of whom have specialist training in working with vision impairment. Some nursing support is also available.
